Abuja – The British Government, weekend expressed readiness to collaborate with the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s to urgently fast tract the development of the Niger Delta Region.

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Paul Arkwright gave the assurance when he visited the minister of Niger Delta Affairs Pastor Usani Usani in Abuja,

Arkwright said his government is more than ready to join hands with the Federal Government and other development partners with a view to placing the region on the global map of massive development.

The trustees of ‎Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) will on Monday (November 30, 2015) be arraigned before a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja over the collapse of a six-story building in the church on September 12, 2014, which led to the death of 116 persons.

The Senior Pastor of the church, Prophet T.B. Joshua who is one of the trustess, will also face arraignment.

According to PremiumTimes, the trustees will be arraigned before Justice Lawal Akapo alongside the engineers who constructed the collapsed building.

Amaechi orders probe of maritime academy over N18bn remittances

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has ordered a probe into the financial activities of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Akwa Ibom State and N18 billion remittances to the institution by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in the last five years. Amaechi gave the order following allegations of financial recklessness and large scale fraud leveled against the academy’s rector, Joshua Okpo.

NNPC Apologizes to Nigerians over Fuel Scarcity

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Wednesday apologized to Nigerians over the fuel scarcity situation in the country.

According to Vanguard, the organisation also revealed that it has entered into a partnership with security agencies in the country to assist in the monitoring of fuel supply across the country.

A representative from NNPC told newsmen, “We must all make sure that petroleum products get across to Nigerians at the regulated price especially as the yuletide season approaches.

Obasanjo Lauds GEJ for a Successful Handover to Buhari

In a letter to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Olusegun Obasanjo offered words of encouragement, and also congratulated him on the successful handover to current president Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Vanguard, Obasanjo wrote the letter in response to another letter sent by Jonathan in which he revealed plans to start a foundation through which he would continue to service humanity.

Senate gives Buhari 2 weeks to end fuel scarcity

The Senate yesterday ordered President Muhammadu Buhari who is also the Minister of Petroleum Resources, to end the fuel crisis within two weeks.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife (PDP, Anambra Central), gave the ultimatum during a meeting with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Ekwunife said the minister must not only end the scarcity within the ultimatum, but ensure that consumers do not pay more than N87 per litre for petrol.

A statement from EFCC read;

"The public is hereby notified that Jerry Ogbonna Obike Phillip, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a case of stealing.

Phillip allegedly withdrew the sum of N45,000,000.00 (Forty Five million naira) which was mistakenly credited into his account in a new generation bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria before the money could be reversed to its rightful owner."

Payment of N5,000 to unemployed Nigerian youth to start 2016 - Minister

The federal government has ​​​assured that it would commence payment of N5,000 promised unemployed Nigerian youth during the electioneering campaign, from 2016 .
​The minister of youth and sports, Solomon Dalong,said this on Wednesday when he paid a condolence visit on the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, over the death of Abubakar Audu.

Police Corporal who killed a man dismissed from service, to be charged for murder

The Delta state police command has dismissed from its service a trigger-happy police officer, Nelson Ndukwu, who killed a man identified as Amos Nsikak, in Warri, Delta State on Wednesday Nov. 4th. According to eyewitnesses, 28 year old Amos who hails from Akwa Ibom state, was on his way to his residence in the town when he met Nelson. An argument ensued between the men and Nelson immediately opened fire, killing Amos instantly.

Yesterday, the first batch of 48 Nigerians were deported from the UK.Most of them came to the country without personal items. However, there are allegations that each deportee is given 3000 pounds by the UK government and this money is seized by the Nigerian embassy .

Last week, Professor Alexia Thomas, a Nigerian-born, British fiery Human Rights Activist who doubles as Chairman, The Commonwealth Liberation Party (TCLP) cried out over the issue.

South-East traders disown Biafra and their struggle

The‘South East Markets Amalgamated Traders Association have disowned the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and the pro-Biafran struggle.

In a statement by their President and the Secretary, Okwudili Ezenwankwo and Temple Udeh respectively and made available to journalists in Awka on Tuesday, the traders said they had nothing to do with the Movement for the Actualisation of Biafra and the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The statement read,

Following comments by state governors that they can not afford to keep paying the 18,000 minimum wage ,the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, yesterday warned that attempts by the governors through the Governors’ Forum to renege on the N18,000 national minimum wage was an open declaration of war against the Nigerian workers.

NLC, in a statement by its factional President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, told the governors to prepare for war and organised labour would have no alternative than to mobilize to respond appropriately to this act of aggression by the political class on workers’ welfare.The statement read in part:
“The Nigeria Labour Congress is shocked by the statement credited to the chairman of the Governors Forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, that the N18,000 national minimum wage promulgated into law in 2011 was no longer sustainable because of the fall in the price of crude oil. The governor, who was speaking on behalf of his colleagues at the end of a meeting of the forum, also claimed that the national minimum wage was ‘imposed’. 

Turkey shoots down Russian warplane on Syrian border

Turkey has shot down a Russian warplane on the Syrian border, a senior Turkish official has said. According to Al Jazeerah, the plane was shut down on Syrian territory in Latakia's Yamadi village.

The plane was downed by the Turkish military according to the rules of engagement because it violated Turkish airspace, the Turkish official said.

The Turkish president's office identified the plane as Russian and said it was warned before being shot down, according to semi-official Anadolou agency.

The family of a Muslim teenager who was arrested after a homemade clock he brought into school was mistaken for a bomb are demanding $15million in damages.

Ahmed Mohamed's family are also seeking an apology from the city of Irving and its schools after the 14-year-old was apprehended by police in September this year.

According to NY Daily ,lawyers representing the family sent separate letters to the city of Irving, located west of Dallas, and the Irving Independent School District, saying the ninth grade student was wrongfully arrested, illegally detained and questioned without his parents.

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state, Mr. Abubakar Audu is dead.The governorship aspirant is said to have died shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared his victory at the elections inconclusive.

According to the Cable he suffered a first stroke this morning at about 9 am and shortly after the election was declared inconclusive, he suffered a second one which killed him.

According to Sky News,automatic weapons fire has been heard on the seventh floor of the 190-room hotel, where three militants have taken 140 guests and 30 members of staff hostage.The hotel is frequently used by Air France crew in Mali. Vicky Thompson, 21, was serving a 12-month term at HMP Leeds after breaching a suspended sentence.

A Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) youth leader in Tunruku ward of Igabi local government area of Kaduna State was yesterday strangulated to death by some suspected hired assassins.

105 soldiers reported missing after fight with Boko haram

No fewer than 105 soldiers are said to have gone missing after a gun battle with Boko haram sect members at Gudunbali, Borno State, on Wednesday November 18th. According to a report by Premium Times, the soldiers went missing after a fight with the insurgents who tried to capture the community early yesterday morning.

The man suspected of masterminding last Friday's Paris attacks that killed 129 people, was killed in the police raid north of Paris Wednesday, investigators confirmed. Abdelhamid Abaaoud, 27, was the second person to die in the Saint-Denis raid, the French prosecutor's office reported Thursday. He was identified from skin samples.

Abaaoud had previously been linked to a string of thwarted attacks including the plot to kill passengers on a Paris-bound high-speed train in August, a plot that 3 young Americans helped foil.

The Senate has urged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to increase the validity of its examination results from 12 months to 36 months.

The lawmakers also asked JAMB to consult widely with Parents Teachers Associations, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other stakeholders in the education sector with a view to coming out with a friendly, holistic, comprehensive and sustainable admissions policy.

Similarly, the Senate directed its Committee on Education to inquire into the circumstances surrounding the JAMB policy, including all allegations of favouritism, and generally review the power of JAMB vis-a-vis admissions.

ISIS releases picture of bomb used to blow up Russian jet over Egypt

The Islamic State group has released a photo of the bomb it says was used to bring down a Russian passenger plane in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula last month, killing all 224 people on board.

The picture was published in the latest issue of the extremist group's English-language magazine, with the caption "EXCLUSIVE - Image of the IED used to bring down the Russian airliner."

The picture showed a yellow can of Schweppes Gold soda and what appeared to be other bomb components. They wrote

"On 30 September 2015, after years of supporting the Nusayrī tāghūt in the war against the Muslims of Shām, Russia decided to participate directly with its own air force in the war.
