US Gay Marriage - Robert Mugabe Asks Obama to Marry Him

Zimbabwe’s 90-year-old president, Robert Mugabe, has challenged President Barack Obama by asking for his hand in marriage. His comment comes at the back of the legalization of gay marriage in the United States by the Supreme Court.

Mugabe during his weekly radio interview with Zimbabwe’s national radio last Saturday said:

“I’ve just concluded since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance thus if it becomes necessary , I shall travel to Washington, D.C. , get down on my knee, and ask his [Obama’s] hand. I can’t understand how this people dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord prohibited mankind from sodomy.

Fresh case of Ebola recorded in Liberia

Liberia has been hit with a fresh case of Ebola. According to the Liberian Deputy Health Minister, Tolbert Nyensuah, a 19 year old man died of the deadly virus. And they are saying it's possible he infected close friends or relatives before he died.

"A new case of Ebola has been reported in Margibi County. The person has died and was confirmed positive before death. He has been buried" Nyensuah said

Driver lies under his bus as VIA officials try to impound his vehicle [PHOTOS]

This happened around the Muson Centre/TBS area of Lagos a few minutes ago. The bus driver was stopped for a traffic offense and as LASTMA and VIO officials tried to seize his bus, he went under it and refused to come out, causing traffic on the road. Don't blame him though. APC says Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu who is a member of PDP must be removed from office. Senator Ekweremadu who was also the deputy senate president in the last administration, was elected deputy senate president during the controversial senate leadership election on June 9th which produced Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President.

A member of the ruling party who spoke on condition of anonymity with Punch, said Ekweremadu serving as deputy senate president will adversely affect President Buhari's administration.

Patience Jonathan's ex-security aide murdered

A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was Principal Security Officer to the wife of the former President, Patience Jonathan, has been shot dead by unknown assailants.

Igbomie’s corpse was found in his Honda Accord car last Friday along the Airport Road, Abuja.

The former PSO, who was married with two children, was believed to have been killed by assassins who shot him at close range in his car and left the engine running.

A source said the body of the DSP was found early in the morning with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects in tact in the car.

President Buhari allegedly orders arrest of wife's younger brother

A former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure FUTA, Prof Albert Ilemobade, who was declared missing last Monday June 22nd has been found dead. His decomposed body was found inside a store at his residence in the Ijapo area of Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Presidency orders VC, registrar of the Fed University of Otuoke to refund overpaid salaries

The Presidency, through the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, has instructed the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, to refund over payment of salaries running into millions of naira.

The Registrar of the university, David Suowari, was also directed to refundthe sum of N130, 692.71 per month in excess of his due salary.

The over payments were said to have been discovered during the commission’s visit to the institution on May 12, 2015 to carry out an inspection of FUO’s remuneration practices vis-a-vis the extant government’s pay policy.

APC May Not Retain Power in 2019 - Akande

Bisi Akande, former interim national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and governors on the platform of the party to intervene in the continued crisis within the  party before it collapses.

Akande said that  the ongoing crisis if not tackle headlong may affect the party chances of retaining power in 2019. He made this known in a statement released to journalists on Sunday.

TB Joshua reacts to gay law in USA

Various reactions have come in the wake of America formally legalising gay marriage across the entirety of its borders but one of the most unusual has sprung from a popular Nigerian cleric.

After the historic announcement, T.B. Joshua tweeted a YouTube video showing a young man allegedly receiving ‘deliverance’ from a ‘homosexual demon’.

The clip titled, ‘Deliverance From Homosexual Demon’ shows a Nigerian from Imo State who identified himself as ‘Tedus’ receiving prayer at the church of T.B. Joshua in Lagos, Nigeria.
“I made him gay; I made him love men,” the young man says after being questioned by one of Joshua’s ministers, the clip clarifying that it was an ‘evil spirit’ speaking, which was allegedly behind his homosexual tendencies. Tedus is subsequently ‘delivered’ and later shares his experiences about how the ‘devil’ of homosexuality had possessed him.

Nigeria records highest number of drug related convicts in the World - NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, announced that Nigeria has the highest number of persons serving jail terms for drug related offences worldwide.

Iweajunwa Okechukwu, the NDLEA commander in the state disclosed this while celebrating the 2015 UN Drug Free Day in Minna on Friday.

“There is no doubt that as a country, the menace of drug abuse and trafficking is one of the biggest problems staring us in the face today.

“All over the world, Nigerians are notorious for drug trafficking. We have the highest number of traffickers serving jail terms more than any other country in the world,’’ he said.

Two pilots have been fired after they let a busty Argentinian actress fly their passenger plane during take off.

Vicky Xipolitakis was filmed flying the aeroplane as it left the metropolitan city airport in Buenos Aires (Jorge Newbery) for the city of Rosario, in Santa Fe.

The pilot and co pilot broke international rules by letting an unauthorised person into the cabin.

The video shows the model shouting:

"I'm going to accelerate and will take off" and pressing buttons in the cabin as if she had been flying planes for years.

12 Cultists in Police Net over Calabar Killings

No fewer than 12 cultists will be charged to court in relation to various killings in Calabar and other parts of Cross River State, the police said.

The cultists, who are currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Cross River State Police Command in Calabar, are still being investigated before they would be prosecuted for offences committed at the law court.

Residents of Calabar had in recent times been terrorised by activities of various cult groups. The situation is not different from other major towns in the state where the groups had been involved in killing and maiming of innocent people.

Supreme Court Declares Same-Sex Marriage Legal in all 50 States Across the United States of America

The US Supreme Court has ruled that same-sex marriage is a legal right across the United States. It means the 14 states with bans on same-sex marriage will no longer be able to enforce them. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote that the plaintiffs asked

"for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right."

It is unclear how soon marriage licences will be issued in states where gay unions were previously prohibited. The ruling, which sparked celebrations outside the court in Washington DC, brings to an end more than a decade of bitter legal battles.

President Buhari Dissolves NNPC Board

Our President Muhammadu Buhari has dissolved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The decision was revealed in a statement signed by Haruna Imrana, Director of Communications for the Head of Service of the Federation where President Buhari said that the dissolving of the board is with immediate effect.

According to the statement, the directive to that effect was conveyed in a letter signed on Friday, June 26, 2015 by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Barr.Danladi Kifasi.

Mob sets policeman’s vehicle ablaze for crushing schoolboy [PHOTO]

An angry mob has set ablaze a policeman’s vehicle on Abeokuta Road, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, for crushing a schoolboy to death.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the boy, identified simply as Ope, was crushed at about 4pm while returning from school on Wednesday, and he reportedly died on the spot.

It was gathered that the deceased, who wore the uniform of Moslem Comprehensive Junior School, was riding a bicycle by the roadside when the vehicle hit him.

10-year-old girl found unconscious, dies after riding Six Flags roller coaster

Authorities say a 10-year-old girl who was found unconscious last week after riding a roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California has died at a hospital.

Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Monday that Jasmine Martinez of Somis died Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department said the girl and a parent were airlifted Friday from the park in Valencia.

ASABA—DELTA State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday, decried the financial position of the state and disclosed that the government had over N636 billion debt, including contractual obligations, to contend with in the next three years.

Addressing the state legislature, Okowa said: “A total monthly deduction of N4.60 billion will be made from our FAAC receipts with effect from this June through to March 2017, and thereafter N1.098 billion monthly until September 2018.

Buhari’s ADC Orders SSS Officials out of Aso Rock

The inter agency rivalry between the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army came to head on Wednesday as the Aide de Camp, ADC, to the President, Lt. Col. Abubakar Lawal ordered personnel of the DSS out of the presidential villa.

The incidence which happened at the residence of the President at the Presidential Villa was extended to all other points that had been manned by the personnel of the DSS.

But the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said what happened was a realignment of security around the President which entailed that members of the armed forces would man the inner perimeter of the President security while operatives of the DSS would man the outer perimeter.

Suspected Drug Baron arrested in Lagos [PHOTO]

A suspected drug baron who specialised in sponsoring drug couriers to China, Malaysia, Turkey, Italy and other foreign countries has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)

Addressing journalists at office of the agency at Ikoyi, Lagos, the NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, said the 37-year-old suspect, Sylvester Chukwunwendu, was also a producer of methamphetamine in Anambra State. Giade said that Chukwunwendu was arrested at Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State based on intelligence report received by the agency on April 23, 2014.
