Nigerian-British Boxer, Anthony Joshua defeats Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round at Wembley [VIDEO]


Nigerian born British boxer, Anthony Joshua defeated 41 year old veteran, Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round of one of the greatest contemporary boxing match.

Joshua won the fight in the 11th round with a vicious uppercut that put his opponent on the floor, followed by a right cross. A brutal left hook knocked Wladimir down a second time then a crisp combo finished the old warrior in the corner and Klitschko went out on his shield.

Buhari absent from Friday Jumat prayer


President Muhammadu Buhari did not attend today’s congregational Friday prayer at the Aso Rock Mosque.

Mr. Buhari has been observing the weekly prayer at the mosque located behind his office since his return from medical vacation in the UK.

Staff of the Aso Villa also confirmed the president was indoors and did not go to any other mosque for the ‘Jumat’ prayer.

Nnamdi Kanu leaves Kuje prison after 2 years of imprisonment


After meeting his bail conditions, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, left Kuje Prison in Abuja around 5pm this evening April 28th. He was driven home by former Aviation minister Osita Chidoka. Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in 2015 for treason and has been in prison since then.

He visited his mum Yeta Odusanya for one last time before he steps onto the ring. The British boxer shared a pic he took with her and captioned it: 'See you on Sunday mum x'.

She has never seen her son fight and won't be in attendance, as watching her son take blow after blow goes against every woman's maternal instincts, he said.

32-year-old Liezel Betitta has been arrested for cutting off her husband's penis with a pair of scissors because she was convinced he was having an affair. She believed he was sexually involved with a friend's wife at a building from where he worked in Iloilo City, the Philippines so after her husband, Mark, went out drinking with friends after work then fell asleep at a friend's house, Liezel went over there and found him.

Actor, Michael Mantenuto found dead at the age of 35


Hollywood actor, Michael Mantenuto died on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the age of 35. Announcing his death, U.S. Army Col. Guillaume Beaurpere wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday that Mantenuto sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Those of you that knew Mike will remember him for his passionate love for his family and his commitment to the health of the force," he wrote.

Guinness Nigeria records 29% growth in revenue in Q3


Guinness Nigeria Plc, the nation’s leading alcoholic beverage manufacturer and a subsidiary of Diageo Plc, has released its unaudited results for the nine months ended 31 March, 2017.

The results detail revenue growth of 29% and a 6% increase in gross profit when compared to the same nine-month period in 2016.

While the first half volume growth continued in the third quarter, the third quarter also benefited cycling a weak third quarter last year. Cost of sales increased by 47% in the nine months due to the challenging economic environment.

Adamawa Speaker beats up police sergeant


The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa,  has beaten up a police sergeant attached to him.

A witness told journalists in Yola Thursday that the Speaker got angry when the policeman complained about non-payment of his allowances. The Speaker grabbed the policeman and slapped him severally until the man was rescued by some security men around.

India bans Facebook, Twitter and other 20 social media sites


Authorities in India have banned 22 social media sites in an effort to calm tensions in a disputed region, after videos depicting the alleged abuse of Kashmiris by Indian forces fueled protests. The government said that the one-month ban was necessary for public safety because social media was being "misused by anti-national and anti-social elements.

Tension in Delta state as political leader dies in police custody [PHOTOS]


A former Director of Direct Labour Agency, Chief Lucky Ayomanor has the allegedly died in the custody of the police in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that Chief Ayomanor was accosted and searched by the police, who were on a “stop” and “search” duty along Gana road in Sapele.

It was alleged that a fully loaded revolver and pump action was discovered in the SUV of Chief Ayomanor after he was searched by the police.

Man sues R Kelly over alleged sexual affair with his wife


A Mississippi sheriff’s deputy has filed a lawsuit against R&B superstar R. Kelly over an alleged affair Kelly had with the deputy’s wife.

In the lawsuit, Hinds County Deputy Kenny Bryant claimed that he had suffered “emotional, psychological and financial loss” due to the actions of the “Ignition” singer.

Calabar viewing tragedy: Seven people died not 30 - FG


The Federal Government has disputed reports that 30 persons had died, when a high-tension cable fell on a football viewing centre in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on April 20.

The Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), said Thursday that investigations carried out on the incident, showed that seven persons lost their lives.

Two passengers caught attempting to smuggle drugs into USA


Customs and Border Patrol officers at New York’s JFK airport said they captured two more passengers who attempted to smuggle drugs by strapping packages of cocaine to their legs.

The most recent seizure came when two men tried to bring more than 10 kilos of cocaine into the United States on April 19, officers said. Both men allegedly had the drugs taped to their legs under their clothing, and one man taped the drugs to his back.

Nicolas Cage involved in a ‘freak accident’ on movie set in Bulgaria


Actor Nicolas Cage broke his ankle, in what was described as a freak accident, while filming the York Alec Shackleton-directed Millennium Films bank heist action film #211. The 53 year old actor was immediately taken to a hospital in Sofia, Bulgaria, close to where the film crew was shooting.

2017 budget missing - Senate alleges, blames the Nigeria Police for its disappearance


The Senate, on Wednesday, disclosed that the 2017 budget is missing and alleged that the Nigeria Police stole the documents needed to pass the 2017 budget.

The allegations were made following a presentation by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Sen. Danjuma Goje, regarding the invasion of his home last week, by officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has released a statement clarifying his earlier statement on President Buhari working from home. According to Mohammed, President Buhari will be working from home only for today.

In the statement issued in Abuja, the Minister said the President only decided to work from home today, not that he has decided to work from home henceforth.

President Buhari writes National Assembly, seeks approval to borrow $5.851bn for railway projects


President Muhammadu Buhari has written a letter to the National Assembly, requesting for approval to borrow $5.851 billion for the upgrade of various sections of the Nigerian railway.

In the letter written separately to Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the house of representatives Yakubu Dogara, President Buhari asked for speedy consideration of his request so that his administration can access the China-African fund provided in the 2016-2018 external borrowing plan.

A 37-year-old mother in Kabimbiri village, Mukono District in Uganda has given birth to 38 children. Villagers have given the mother, Mariam Nabatanzi Babirye, the nickname of Nalongo Muzaala Bana, which means “the twin mother who produces quadruplets.”

Nnamdi Kanu denies rejecting bail, pledges to meet conditions in 48 hours


The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has denied a media report that he rejected the bail granted him on Tuesday by the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.

Mr. Kanu and three others, David Nwawuisi, Benjamin Madubugwu and Chidiebere Onwudiwe, are facing trial before the court on allegations of treason, among other charges.

Mr. Kanu was granted bail on health grounds with 12 conditions attached to the bail by the presiding judge, Binta Nyako.

Court Grants Nnamdi Kanu Bail


A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday granted bail to the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on health grounds.

Justice Nyako however barred the IPOB leader from granting press interview while on bail.

The judge also gave a stern warning to the defendant not to participate in any rally or be found in a crowd of more than 10 persons in the course of the bail.

20 People Killed in Clash Between two communities in Akwa Ibom state and Cross River State [GRAPHIC PHOTOS]


At least 20 people were killed yesterday in Ayadehe and Oku-Iboku, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State following an attack by hoodlums from Ikot Offiong community of Odukpani Local Government Area in Cross River State.

Man caught with human parts in Ilorin


A middle aged man has been arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital for possessing human parts.

Tribune Online gathered that the suspect had been monitored by residents of Ita Kudimo, Abata Suban, Pakata area of Ilorin West local government in the past few days after speculation grew that he possessed a corpse in his building.

It was also gathered that the neighbours of the suspect swooped on his residence at about noon on Sunday and the suspect was allegedly caught with human parts.
